The Center for Computational Cognitive Modeling is located in the Department of Psychology at the University of Copenhagen. The center is funded by The Danish Council for Strategic Research from 2006 to 2009 with official start 1 May 2006. The purpose of the center is to investigate cognitive processes using methods from both experimental cognitive psychology and the technical sciences. We aim to describe and understand cognitive systems as well as develop artificial cognitive systems within a common mathematical framework. More specifically the aim is to gain a better understanding of both 1) how efficient object representations are generated by cognitive systems using statistical methods such as independent component analysis (COCA, see project description) and 2) to describe and understand the cognitive mechanisms behind our ability to hold on to the information from the most pertinent objects in the outside physical world – our visual short-term memory. |
